Many talented people are from Jõgeva – poet Betti Alver, composer Alo Mattiisen, actors Hele Kõrve, Tiit Sukk, Martin Algus and many others.
Baltics' biggest motorcyclists gathering event Jõgevatreff has very long traditions. During the past years, Garlic Festival has become the biggest event of Jõgeva. You can buy local goods from there, see an interesting culture programme and feel garlic theme at the whole festival area. In 2011, a remarkable event took place, called the First Women Dance Party of Estonia, where over 3000 Estonian dancers took part.
There are also some quite unusual events held, like icicle melting competition and own-made sledge run competition on the hill of Laiuse. Also, the Christmas peace for Estonia is announced in Jõgeva. There are words in the song of Jõgeva: „In the cold town, home warm comes to all of us...".
Come and experience it yourself!
